5th Street Bridge Replacement Project

The 5th Street Bridge Replacement Project will enhance safety, inter-regional traffic circulation, and air quality. The improvements will include a new 4-lane, 10 span cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete box girder bridge which connects 5th Street in Marysville to Bridge Street in Yuba City, CA.

April 2, 2019 5TH STREET BRIDGE PROJECT UPDATE: DWR is currently planning to release 20,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) to the Feather River from all Oroville facilities this afternoon. At the 5th St Bridge, the main channel of the Feather River can handle approximately 35,000 cfs before water starts inundating the job site. Based on DWR’s indication that it might possibly increase releases to 40,000-60,000 cfs this week, the bridge contractor began preparing the remainder of the project site within the levees for possible flooding yesterday in accordance with the City’s DWR-approved contingency plan. This includes placing construction materials on top of the completed portions of the new bridge and moving the four cranes and other miscellaneous equipment to higher ground near the old Little League field in Riverfront Park. The work that has been constructed to-date is capable of handling the forecasted flows. We do not anticipate that this delay will impact the overall project completion because the contractor has made such good progress to-date.
